Early 2020, while on assignment in NYC, I took some free time to add to my street photo documentary series. I came across a few situations that, in hind sight, seem like precursors for the coming Topsy-turvy year we were about to experience. First was the gentleman who decided to strike a crazy pose in front of the Oculus for his girl friend.
Next was the homeless man near the One World Trade Center, leaning against a prophetic advertisement, while shouting out Nostradamus-type predictions.
Shortly after returning home to Lancaster, Pa., news of the pandemic became known and people overacted which resulted in panic hoarding.
It was somewhat disheartening to see peoples' overreaction, resulting in bare shelves.
However, we soon settled into following guidelines while maintaining a spirit of friendliness.
The street artists seemed to feel it was time for some "super heroes" to appear.
Lancasters' city animals seemed curious as to what was happening.
One individual converted an old hearse to look like a taxi, indicating his destination, "nowhere".
Even cemeteries took on some strange forms of expression.
Here's to the new year bringing us all a bright future.
